Fishing by shallows and rocks

While fishing  often can be seen other boats and fishermen jigging but somehow their catch is not so good. Baits constantly tangle in seaweeds, gets dirty and end up stuck in between rocks.  And when anglers have been trying a while they leave even sonar tells that fish are there. What went wrong? What could have been done better?

There is couple easy and simple solutions which makes your fishing more enjoyable and more efficient.

1. Anchor your boat properly
After you have found your fishing spot and located fish, anchor your boat so that wind is behind your back and you are able to cast from deep to shallow side.  This helps you to maintain good contact in your bait and jig keeps cleaner from seaweed and does not get stuck between rocks so easily. Before you put down your anchor, turn the boat in that position how it is going to be anchored and stop the boat from moving. Then put your anchor down and adjust anchor line fitting in current conditions. Make sure that you have enough line to keep your anchor in its place but not too long line so your boat won't move from side to side too much. Place your boat close enough the spot where fish are so you don't have to cast unnecessarily long casts. This will also keep your contact better while fishing. As anchor Bruce and Danforth models have been good. These will keep your boat in its place but don't get stuck in bottom and don't twist anchor line. Remember also about one meter long chain before andchor. This will improve anchors traction considerably. When anchoring your boat remember other boats, vessels and anglers: they need also their space.

2. Be systematical
Driving on your spot, throwing anchor in water and start casting around rarely is really effective way in fishing. It is recommended to put some effort in your action. Fishing is more convinient, easier and often more effective when you can cast from deeper side to shallow side. This way you can maintain good contact in your jig. It is same with currents. Casting against current is in most cases much effective way than letting jig go down with stream. Sure, there is situations when this will not work. You have found the fish, tried several different colors, head weights and made changes in your retrieving. Now it is time to try different presentation. Move little aside and anchor your boat so that you can cast alons the bank in that depth where fish are. Also now try to anchor so that wind is in your back, contact in your jig will be much better so. Sometimes streams and currents go so that you have to cast from hallow to deep down the bank.
