In December, in most places, it's time to slow down. While water will chill down, even near to 0 Celsius, prey fish are swimming very slowly. If your lure swims exceptionally fast, predators won't be interested in it.

Many fishermen will end their pike season in late autumn like October-November. Even though they actually should just start it. When water is cold, big pike will come to shallow water and they are reachable with spinning rod.
